Vance K. Jackson, Jr., MSW serves as CEO of NEXX Consulting Group, a multifaceted consulting firm renowned for delivering bespoke solutions tailored to the unique needs of small cap, nonprofit, government, and corporate firms. 

With a comprehensive suite of services that includes grant-writing, corporate employment services, board development, strategic planning, program design, evaluation, fund development, and enhancing organizational effectiveness, NEXX Consulting Group stands out in its commitment to excellence and innovation.

Bringing over 17 years of rich experience across Business, Government, Community, and Philanthropy, Vance has demonstrated his expertise and leadership in various Board and Executive leadership capacities. Most notably, he served in the Mayor’s Office of the City of Detroit as the City’s Social Impact Fund Development Officer. 

In this pivotal role, he was an integral part of a 5-member Fund Development team that successfully raised more than $1 Billion in investment from public, private, philanthropic, and corporate sources, showcasing his exceptional ability to forge partnerships and secure significant funding for impactful initiatives.

Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office in 2018, Vance served more than a decade at J.P. Morgan, where his financial career spanned across the breadth of the global bank. He served in J.P. Morgan’s Commercial Bank—Middle Market Treasury, where he specialized in constructing Global Treasury solutions for Multi-National Middle Market Corporations with annual revenues ranging from $100 Million – $2 Billion. 

A significant addition to Vance’s portfolio is his appointment as a lecturer at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, School of Social Work, where he teaches Master-Level Graduate (MSW) courses on social enterprise & entrepreneurship, community organizing, community development, fund development and grant-writing. 

Vance is also a Venture Capital mentor to Techstars—a National Venture Capital accelerator designed to recruit and provide equitable access, funding, and support for entrepreneurs who are Black, Hispanic and Latino, Indigenous American, and/or Pacific Islander. Techstars Detroit builds on the unique strengths of Detroit’s startup & innovation ecosystem through investment, mentorship, and community partnerships.

Additionally, he serves as an Executive Board Member for several Nonprofit, For-profit, and Social Impact organizations across the United States and throughout the globe. Most notably, Vance serves as University of Michigan Black Alumni (UMBA) Region Director and National Co-Chair and founder for its National Speakers’ Bureau where he oversees more than 200 speakers. 

Highlighting Vance’s Corporate Social Responsibility background, served on the For-Profit National Emerging Leaders Advisory Board (ELAB) of Huntington Bank, a $150 Billion Publicly-Traded Bank where he advised the Bank’s Board of Directors and its Executives on industry insights, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) recommendations, and strategic execution of National Banking strategy.

Additionally, he serves as a National Board Member for the Social Enterprise Association—a National USA Certified Social Impact Enterprise, where he serves on the Governance committee leading the organization’s national Board Recruitment efforts.

In addition to serving as an Executive Board Member for several National Non Profit and For-profit organizations, Vance has strategically led and developed numerous leadership development platforms and Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives throughout his career. 

As State Chairman and Global Board Member for J.P. Morgan’s Black Organization for Leadership Development (B.O.L.D) he served and led more than 10,000 employees across the United States, Brazil, LATAM and EMEA in various leadership development, professional development, and community engagement activities.

A frequent conference speaker and published author of 6 books, Vance K. Jackson, Jr., is a first generation college graduate and an author of numerous books on faith, family, finance and leadership. 

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology (B.A. ‘04) and Masters of Social Work (M.S.W. ‘06) from the University of Michigan — Ann Arbor and actively serves as a Board Member on the Board of Governors for the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work. 

In addition to serving as a Lecturer, He was most recently appointed to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Faculty Senate, The Financial Affairs Advisory Committee (FAAC) where he advises and consults with the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer concerning topics of interest related to University finance and infrastructure

Vance is married to Nina Jackson, for more than 15 years and they reside in Detroit, MI with their two children.
